Eileen Joan Bisceglia, 99 passed away peacefully in Reno, Nevada on May 29th, 2024.
Eileen Bisceglia was born on July 15, 1924, in Swanton, Vermont to the late Fredrick and Lena Babbie into a bustling household of eleven siblings, where love overflowed. Her roots were firmly planted in Swanton where she embarked on her educational journey at St. Anne’s Academy before pursuing nursing at Bishop Degoesbriand Hospital in Burlington, Vermont.
Her career took her around the country with the American Red Cross, imparting invaluable knowledge on the operation of Iron Lungs to aspiring nurses. Fate intervened during a stop in New York, and she crossed paths with Joe Bisceglia, a medical resident. Their marriage in 1953 marked the beginning of a remarkable journey together.
For three decades, Eileen and Joe called Greenwich, CT home,where he practiced OBGYN at Greenwich Hospital.. They nurtured their family and built cherished memories. Elieen was a natural-born caretaker, kind and loving and was affectionately known as “Nan” to many. Retirement beckoned them to Venice, FL, where they reveled in the warmth of companionship, indulged in rounds of golf, and loved hosting friends and family. Eileen’s hospitality was legendary—her delicious meals and welcoming spirit ensured that all who entered her home felt embraced and at ease.
Their enduring love weathered 54 years until Joe’s passing in 2007. Eileen found solace in the embrace of family as she embarked on a new chapter in California, where she spent her final years in proximity to her daughter and family.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Beulah, Eula, Albert, Winifred, Anne, Herman, Marjorie, Leon and Roger.. She mourned the loss of her beloved husband, Joseph Bisceglia, as well as her sister-in-law, Victoria (Rudy) Brunetti, and brother-in-law, Robert (Aki) Bisceglia.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted sister, Beverly Connors of St. Albans VT, and sister-in-law, Rita Bisceglia of Harrison, NY. Her three loving children carry on her enduring legacy: Jack (Patricia) Bisceglia, Sue (Michael) Blair, and Joan Valentine (Bob Bailey). As well as her adoring grandchildren, Meagan, Sarah, Molly, Haydn, Tyler, and Halli, her great-grandchildren, Emmylou, Oakley, and Mason and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Eileen leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering devotion—a testament to a life well-lived and relationships deeply cherished.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider Gentiva Hospice, https://app.etapestry.com/Visits: 206
