Juniper Moss McOmber was born on March 18, 2000 in Fairbanks, AK to their very excited parents Scott and Leigh. Juni joined older sister Mina and later helped their family welcome youngest sibling and family completer Michael. Juni attended David E. Norman Elementary in Ely, NV; Pinehurst Elementary in Pinehurst, ID; and White Pine Middle School and White Pine High School in Ely, NV. They graduated from Post Falls High School in Post Falls, ID in 2018.
We are devastated that Juni’s struggles with mental health became too much, and they chose to seek peace in another realm on December 10, 2023. While we believe that suicide should be discussed openly and honestly, we do not want their means of death to be a bigger focus than their short but impactful life. Here are just a few things we would like Juni’s friends and family to remember:
Juni’s spot-on impressions and ability to quote random lines from movies and YouTube videos kept the people around them giggling uncontrollably.
Their musical talent was astounding. They played piano, trumpet and upright bass with equal flair.
They loved collecting. Anything. We called them a “little magpie” for bringing home anything shiny they found and stashing it away in random places.
They loved succulents and had a small indoor garden grown in a variety of unique containers.
Juni loved gaming and enjoyed playing a variety of online games and D & D with friends near and far.
They loved spiders and would carefully release any they found inside, much to some other family members’ dismay.
Juni was the first person to come out in our family and we all looked up to them for that. They inspired a change in perspective that was much needed and they were incredibly brave to be the first one to go against the grain.
Juni has left behind a large extended family and network of friends who loved them and will continue to love them more than they could ever see. In lieu of flowers, their family asks that you remember Juni with some inappropriate humor or with donations to The Trevor Project or the Jason William Hunt Foundation. A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.
We love you, Juniper. Be well. Be whole. Be happy.
